The Department of Radiology at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Radiologist to serve as Chief of the Division of Nuclear Medicine. The successful candidate will need to have subspecialty fellowship training in nuclear medicine and have or be eligible for subspecialty certification in nuclear radiology from the ABR or be eligible for board certification from the ABNM. The position will require interpretation of diagnostic adult and pediatric nuclear medicine examinations as well as performance of radioactive therapeutic procedures. Special consideration will be given to candidates with an academic interest in oncologic imaging and theragnostics. This is a non-tenure position and awarded academic rank will be commensurate with experience and record of scholarship.
As Chief the candidate will oversee a division of 4 subspecialists and will have responsibility for the academic and clinical missions of the division. They will join our group of 52 academic faculty and 28 community practice radiologists in a growing academic health system that includes the academic Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center and 4 regional community hospitals.
A passion for teaching is essential as the education of our medical students, 34 DR and DR/IR residents, fellows, and staff is a core value of our program. The Division offers an ACGME fellowship in Nuclear Medicine. The Department supports an education curriculum specialist to mentor faculty in teaching and develop scholarship in radiology education. There is opportunity for innovative clinical research through collaboration with an interdisciplinary lung cancer screening program and the Division of Radiology Innovation and Value Enhancement (DRIVE), supporting informatics, data analytics, and outcomes research. DRIVE has two full-time data analysts and works with our central data team to provide advanced data mining and analysis support for healthcare innovation and investigator-initiated research projects. The Department sponsors a core imaging lab that supports quantitative image analysis, 3D imaging support for 3D printing and virtual reality, and cardiovascular imaging.

PLUVICTO™ (lutetium Lu177 vipivotide tetraextan) – targeted radiotherapy for men with PSMA positive advanced metastatic prostate cancer. Penn State Hershey was one of three initial hospitals in Pennsylvania to offer this novel treatment beginning in July 2022
LUTATHERA™ (lutetium Lu177 dotatate) – a targeted radiotherapy for patients with somatostatin receptor positive low-to-intermediate grade gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs).

CERIANNA™ (fluoroestradiol F18) – targeted PET/CT imaging study for Estrogen receptor positive breast carcinoma and lobular breast carcinoma. Introduced in November 2021.
PYLARIFY™ (piflufolastat F18) and LOCAMETZ™ (gallium Ga68 gozetotide) – targeted PET/CT imaging for localization of PSMA receptor positive lesions in prostate cancer. Introduced in November 2021 and March 2022, respectively.
NETSPOT (gallium Ga68 dotatate) and DETECTNET™ (copper Cu64 dotatate) PET imaging for localization of somatostatin receptor positive neuroendocrine tumors
AMYVID® (fluorbetapir F18) PET imaging for estimating beta amyloid neuritic plaque density for patients with cognitive impairment who are being evaluated for Alzheimer’s Disease and other causes of cognitive decline.
